Now on to the wreath! It’s crazy simple and it makes a mega-glam statement. I actually made this wreath right before Halloween last year, but I can still remember where I got things — I think. Here are the supplies that you will need:
* 24 inch (I think) wire wreath form
* jewelry wire and wire snips
* two large glittery spiders (I used regular spiders and glittered them with spray glue and glitter, but I just saw huge glittery spiders at Dollar Tree yesterday! Much simpler.)
* hot glue gun and glue
* extra plush black feather boa (I found it at JoAnn Fabrics in the Halloween section last year, but you could use two or three regular boas for the same effect I think.)
* simple round unfinished wood plaque and unfinished wood 3 and 1 (I think I got these at Walmart or JoAnn Fabrics.)
* white paint, orange paint, and orange glitter paint if desired
Now let’s get moving!
Start by painting your plaque and numbers. Allow time to dry. Glitter spiders if they aren’t pre-glittered. While these things dry you are going to wire the boa(s) to the wreath form.
Cut a piece of wire and wrap it around the boa, but don’t twist the wire “shut” just yet. Place the boa in place on the wire wreath form and take the wire that is around the wreath and put it around the wreath form as well. Twist the wires together to “shut” them and attach the boa firmly to the wreath form. Repeat until you have the entire wreath wired to the wreath form. You can space the wires out a bit, but hold up the wreath and see if it sags in any spots. If it does then add extra wires.
Use hot glue to attach the numbers onto the round plaque. Next you will use hot glue to attach long pieces of wire to the back of the plaque. Use the same technique that you used for the boa to wire the plaque into place on the wreath on top of the boa. Pull and twist those wires tightly so there isn’t any wiggling!
You are going to twist the spiders into place the same way that you have twisted everything else into place. Simple wrap the wire around their legs and attach to the wreath where you want them to be “crawling.”
Done! Don’t you love your new, huge, luxurious wreath? I do! I wasn’t sure how to fill the large area above our mantel, but I think this did the trick! What do you think?
Do you like my crazy-festive mantel? Below you will see listed tutorials for the other projects that you see up there.
