I know, I know, this is a series about s’mores and here I am disappointing y’all with a craft! But, stay with me here! It’s a craft to play outside with your fam while you’re making s’mores. Oh and… Hi! I’m Jamie from C.RA.F.T. It’s a nifty little acronym for Creating Really Awesome Fun Things. And I promise you will have fun crafting and playing this outdoor tic tac toe set made out of on old cutting board.

How to make an outdoor Tic Tac Toe game! Making a tic tac toe set is easy peasy, all you need:

  • any size old cutting board
  • painters tape
  • paint brush
  • paint
  • 6 of one object and 6 of another (more on that below)

Measure (or eyeball) where you want your first two lines to go. Then, tape them off and paint! For easy measuring, I made all of my lines exactly one piece of tape wide. After painting the first 2 lines, let them dry completely. I know, I know… waiting for paint to dry is no fun. But while you wait, you can start thinking about game pieces! You can literally use anything from cereal to candy to rocks to buttons, sequins, toy cars, puzzle pieces, random other game pieces… the list is never ending!

Next, measure and tape off the last 2 lines, then paint and let them dry completely. Once the paint is dry, you’re fancy new tic tac toe set is ready to rumble! In the picture below, I used black and white rocks from our garden outside to play the game. I’ve made a few outdoor tic tac toe sets in my day (they make great gifts!) and jazzing up your game pieces can be a fun crafty addition. Check out this set with pretty flowered rocks as game pieces.

Love it, Jamie!! Now I feel guilty for getting rid of my broken cutting board during my move!
I chose this as my feature for next week’s party at Two Uses Tuesday, congratulations!
