The Halloween Goblin is a fun, cheap, and easy Halloween tradition for the whole neighborhood to enjoy! Sneaky fun for the whole family!
My mom was so stinking fun. For real. She made holidays SO MUCH FUN! My favorite Halloween tradition that we did each year was to start “The Halloween Goblin” in our neighborhood. We cut out ghosts with a funny little poem on them, made several plates of Halloween goodies, and went as a family to ding dong ditch a few families. (We always make Halloween Oreo Stuffed Double Chocolate Chip Cookies.) Let’s be honest, is there anything more thrilling than ding dong ditching someone when you are little? Nope, not really.
Once your family has been “haunted” you are asked to hang your ghost on your front door, so it was always thrilling to see new ghosts popping up on doors all throughout our neighborhood. And, of course, no one knew that we were the family starting the Halloween Goblin, so we always got “haunted” ourselves, which gave us an opportunity to “haunt” even more families. So fun.
I don’t know about you, but my little family will definitely be dropping off some Halloween Goblins for our Family Home Evening activity tonight! You can use my printable that is linked below for this activity. It is just the poem and the ghost face, because this way your little ones can design and cut out their own shape of ghost. Please let me know if your family enjoys this activity! Maybe it can even become a new Halloween tradition in your family!
Here is the link to my printable. Happy Haunting!

Shhh, don’t tell my neighbors but we are doing that tonight too! 🙂
Remember when I fell down while we were running away from the Jones’ house one year, and I started sobbing because I thought I broke my arm?? Dad just picked me up and threw me in the car because he didn’t want to get caught! Hahaha. He felt bad about it later when he realized that my arm was, indeed, broken! Only broken bone I’ve ever had, thanks to the Halloween Goblin. But that’s a risk that’s worth taking because this tradition is so fun!
I did something similar a few years ago (but called them “boo bags”) …. But none of the neighbors participated. They just ate the candy in the bags and that was it. 🙁
Sad!!! That is a huge bummer. 🙁
I’m using this tonight for my Activity Day girls! It will be so fun to drop these off on doorsteps of people in our Ward 🙂 Thanks Sarah!
Awesome!!!!!!
