Is your family pumped up for the new Disney Pixar movie, Monsters University? Ours sure is! Monsters Inc. has always been a favorite around here with my little guy, so we are definitely looking forward to the new one. In fact, his daddy has the weekend off, so we are hoping to be able to hit a matinee tomorrow! Since we are so pumped about the movie already, I was very excited to be selected for this particular blogging campaign. We got the opportunity to shop for Monster University toys, as well as dreaming up a fun Monster craft and Monster drink! My four year old has never been so pumped to have a mommy who is a blogger!
First up we got excited for our special “monster day” by watching the movie preview, and then we headed to Walmart to shop for monster toys. If you take a look at my newest Google+ album you will see how much fun we had shopping. After much agonizing on my son’s part he finally decided that he would like the MU Roll-a-Scare Toxic Race Playset. He was pretty excited about the “monster racing ultimate championships.” Cutie.
After some serious playing time we decided to do a Monster craft together. I had the idea to make a healthy treat by using Juicy Juice to make snow cones. I love Juicy Juice. My mom always gave us the cherry Juicy Juice growing up. After guzzling a couple of bottles of the juice we bought on our “monster shopping spree,” my new favorite is Juicy Juice’s Kiwi Strawberry Juice. Yum!
In order to combine our Monster craft and our Monster treat we decided to make Monster Cups. I gathered up a bunch of random, obnoxious crafting supplies from around the house and let my boy dream big. Obviously, he was heavily assisted, because we had to use a low heat hot glue gun to attach things to the cups, and I wasn’t about to let him touch a hot glue gun. We had a lovely time crafting together during baby sister’s nap. I think we will be doing it more often in the future!
I love the ultimate creativity he got to exercise while making this craft! Often I have an idea in mind of what his finished product needs to look like and end up ruining the fun with my nitpicking, but not this time. This time he got to go nuts, not to mention boss me around and tell me where to glue things. To say he enjoyed that would be a bit of an understatement!
Once our cups were done it was finally time for our Monster Snow Cones. They are really just crushed ice with juice poured on top of them. Not the sweetest, but SO much healthier than a real snow cone! He didn’t know the difference at all! We crushed up the ice in our blender, as shown below.
Once the ice was crushed I simply poured juice over it! Easy!
Time to show off our handiwork! I love this picture. He is so thrilled with his own creations that he can’t tear his eyes off of them for a second to smile at the camera!
Finally!! It’s CHOW TIME!!! Toddler tested, mama approved! I love a healthy “treat.” I’m sneaky like that. Even my super picky two year old nephew was thrilled by his snow cone!
If you grab a participating Juicy Juice product then be sure to redeem the product codes for a chance to win the Juicy Juice Monster-Sized Sweepstakes! I did!
Have a wonderful weekend, and be sure to come back tomorrow for the next installment in the S’mores Saturdays series!
Cutest!!!! What a good idea. I love that picture at the end. Was the movie awesome?
