The time is nearing my friends . . . there are 13 days until CHRISTMAS!! Now, now—-DON’T PANIC! If you haven’t found the perfect gift for a woman in your life then I may just be able to help out with that! I was sent the Michael’s Recollections Calendar Kit, and I must say in all honesty that I love it. Let me tell you more.
I am a paper planner type of gal. Always have been, always will be. I just learn and remember best by writing. I can’t type notes on a computer, I can’t just read a tutorial. I need to grab a pen and pencil and take notes and get my hands dirty. It’s the truth. When I was in school I even took it a step further….with COLORS. My teachers always asked why I was taking notes in a rainbow of colored markers, but I knew full well why. I remembered the information better that way. I would walk into class, get out my notepad and thin pack of markers and take the lid off of each one and line them up in my own little rainbow. Then they would be ready! Ready for the heading, notes, subheadings, or whatever else their assigned purpose may have been. My notes were pretty, that’s for sure! So, obviously, a calendar kit for a planner that is both paper AND pretty…..ummmmm YEAH! Made. For. Me.

The other thing you should know about me is that I’m lazy. Truly. Unless I get a fire lit underneath me and can’t stop thinking about a project I am always looking to accomplish something pretty with as little effort as possible. Just another reason this calendar kit was a perfect thing for me to try out! It is set up much like Project Life, with darling inserts and pages made for slipping them in or for adding pictures. I just grabbed some extra pictures that I had around and a pair of scissors and got busy having fun. Let’s take a look at what was inside that magical kit box.
A binder, colorful dividers, inserts in two different sizes, specialized page protectors, a nice pen, and cute stickers for holidays and events.
I knew I was only required to make and share with you one page, but I had so much fun that I made the entire album! In ONE naptime! That, my friends, is a project I can get behind! I love the bright colors, the month by month themed inserts, the opportunity to write my notes and thoughts now or throughout the year, the stickers and blank templates that allowed me to personalize the calendar, and the fact that I could mix in pics of my little cuties. They are the cutest EVER. Sorry, but it’s true.
Let’s take a look at April. Lots of exciting things happening for us in April, including my princess’ second birthday, my sister-in-law getting hitched in NYC, Easter, and me getting to attend the SNAP blogging conference again. YAY!
Don’t you love those little stickers? I also like that the inserts are double sided, so both sides of the page protector are cute. Take a look at February for proof.
If you are wondering how I knew what size to cut the pictures and how I got the rounded corners, the truth is that I used scissors and cut around the insert shape. I was too lazy to walk to the basement to get my paper cutters. See? Lazy. 😉
I didn’t bother with pictures on every month, though. For some of them I stuck with the inserts exclusively. If you wanted to you could also add washi tape, letter stickers, or anything else to the inserts to personalize them more. I have all of those things, but, once again, I didn’t want to walk downstairs to get them. I thought the kit was cute enough to make me happy on its own and that it could speak for itself.
Don’t you love it? I do. I can’t wait to use it all year and then stick it on the shelf with my photo albums as another memory keeper for our family. If you like this idea then you should go grab one at Michael’s. You could put one together as a perfect gift for Grandma, give the kit to a crafty/scrapbook-y friend who will enjoy personalize her own, or you may want to ask Santa to put one under YOUR tree! This kit is sold exclusively at Michael’s for $39.99. So get creative this New Year and have a wonderful holiday season!

I just love my Recollections kit-isn’t it great?! Super excited to see you will be at SNAP! Can’t wait to meet!!
Being a new grandma this is a perfect idea for 2014!!! 🙂
