I am all about coming up with ways to upcycle, remake items that you already have. I love this idea and have actually used the basic idea to make pillow shams. What I did was cut strips of the button and button hole parts of a shirt and sewed them onto fabric that I was using to make a pillow. Saved me the hassle of adding a zipper or my own buttons and button holes (you can see my method on Sweet C’s here, as well as a button up ruffle pillow Courtney made here).
Anyway, Bao-Khang Luu of Releve Design has a great tutorial that shows you how easy it is to make a pillow sham from a men’s shirt.
Bao’s tutorial can be found here!
