Halloween Button Pillow Tutorial

I’ve been working on getting my home decorated for Halloween. One thing that I needed were some new Halloween pillows. After finding some cute and complementary Halloween fabrics and some cute Halloween buttons, I got to sewing some Halloween button pillows!

17 inch pillow form- This is what I had on hand. You can use any size of pillow. You will just need to adjust your measurements.

3/4 yards fabric of each fabric- this will be enough fabric to make 2 pillows

6 buttons

First cut your fabric. You will cut two rectangles and one square. One rectangle will be 8.5 x 17 inches and the other will be 14.5 x 17 inches. The square will measure 17 x 17 inches.

Next take your 8.5 x 17 and 14.5 x 17 rectangles and fold them back two inches. Then sew that fold shut.

Then go ahead and make your button holes. I used 6 buttons and spaced them 2.5 inches apart. Make sure to cut open the middle of your button holes using your seam ripper.

Next, lay your fabrics on top of each other and mark the buttonhole openings so that you will know where to sew on your buttons.

Then sew on your buttons either by hand or by using your sewing machine.

Next button just the top and bottom button of your pillow. Then lay your fabrics with right sides facing and pin together.
