This 5 Cup Salad recipe is perfect for a potluck and comes together in minutes. The fruit and coconut and marshmallows combo is so tasty!

5 Cup Salad recipe in orange bowl

Does your granny have something that she ALWAYS makes for family events?  In my family, it is 5 cup salad.  My granny brings it with her EVERYWHERE.  Even if we specifically ask her to bring a green salad for dinner she shows up with this “salad” instead.  It has become a running family joke.  A tasty one!  😉

Today I am going to share with you my granny’s now infamous 5 Cup Salad recipe.  I grew up picking the marshmallows out of this 5 cup salad when my granny wasn’t looking, and then the ratios were all off in the salad when dinner started.  Haha!  Now, as an adult, I no longer pick out the marshmallows, but, let’s be honest, the marshmallows are totally still my favorite part of this 5 cup salad.

5 Cup Salad may be considered one of the stereotypically Mormony recipes — I feel like every grandma at my church has their own version of this salad.  It always shows up in several variations at each congregation potluck.  🙂  This is our family’s version, and it always brings back fond memories of my childhood.  It is tasty and refreshing, but, best of all, it is CRAZY simple to make.  It would be a perfect recipe for a kid to be in charge of making all on their own!

I always double or triple granny’s 5 cup salad recipe when I am bringing it to a potluck or serving it to a large group.

Such a cool and tasty classic…I’m been watching the show Mad Men lately, and I can so see this fab retro dessert being served in that time and place. Pinned!
