How to Set Up a Valentine’s Day Photo Shoot

Set up a darling photo shoot for your kids on Valentine's Day or any other day with the ideas from this blogger. It’s coming!  Valentine’s Day is almost here!  There is nothing more fun than celebrating holidays with kids.  I just love it.

Last year my sister asked me to take some “romantic” photos of her baby boy, which I gladly did.  We stripped him down and put him on a white blanket with some blocks.  Not super fancy, but it totally worked.  He’s irresistible.

When my {highly sentimental} sister asked me to take some pictures of him this year I decided to just go whole hog.  I decided to plan ahead and set up a cute but simple backdrop.  And that’s what I did.

I started by taping a long piece of brown paper packing wrap to the wall.  And then I strategically taped foam hearts (that I got in several packs of glittery and matte foam hearts at JoAnn’s) all over the brown paper.

Not likely.

A couple of days later the backdrop was still on the wall, so before we headed off to church I took the time to take Valentine’s Day pictures of my own kiddos.  They melt my heart.  (Here is the tutorial for the DIY Framed Chalkboard.)

And, since these picture were such a success (in the mind of their completely unbiased mother), I decided to use purple wrapping paper, glittery foam hearts, and some pom pom trim I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby to create an uber-girly backdrop for my little princess.

Now go create your own Valentine’s Day photo shoots, and soak up the holiday, especially if you have kids!  This isn’t a holiday that is just about romantic love.  It means so much more when you view it as a holiday about love in general!  Romantic love, family love, platonic love, love of ANYTHING!  You can never have too much love!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I loved this post! This is why I had to start following your blog. :) That pic of Cal in the Halloween PJs is so classic. Maybe one of my all time favorites.

This is such a cute post. I’m going to attempt some photos of my grandbaby in the near future. The last time I tried it was a dismal failure! So wish me luck – ha ha. I saw Sarah at BYB & I’m just popping by to visit your adorable blog & say “hello”. I have some pictures on my site taken at BYB & I think it’s you in one of them? If you have minute to pop by, please leave me a comment & let me know it’s you & I will add your link to the photo.

    Warmly, Michelle
