Many years ago, I decided to throw together a simple, last minute Disney Pixar CARS birthday party for my little boy. It was a last minute effort with our immediate family, and far from my nicest party, but it was loads of fun and a great success. Let’s take a closer look . . .
This was my boy’s third birthday party, and at this point in his life he was wildly obsessed with the movie Cars. Wildly. Like, watch it every single day obsessed. Not only did we have this party, but we also went to Cars Land the following fall after his sister was born. That was my favorite trip that our family has EVER done. Ever.
Let’s take a closer look at the party, shall we? I made simple invitations, he colored them, and then we gave them to his grandparents, great-grandparents, and aunt/uncle.
For decorations I kept it simple. A black plastic tablecloth with yellow duct tape dashes on it made the table look like a road, and then I topped it with Cars paper goods from the store and toy cars.
For games we played Pin-the-Lightning-Bolt-on-Lightning-McQueen. My brother-in-law is a great artist, so he drew Lightning McQueen on a poster for me, then my son scribbled/colored him in, and then we tried to put paper lightning bolts in the correct place on him. Simple, but fun.
(As you can see, I was very pregnant with his little sister at this time.)
After we played the game and opened presents, we enjoyed the cake, which I designed to look like a car on a road. Cake decorating is NOT my talent, so, believe it or not, this is actually one of my more impressive cakes. Haha.
That was it! Simple, but fun and memorable. His birthday parties in future years were significantly more impressive, to say the least, but he loved this one, and that’s all that matters! I hope it gives you some fun, simple ideas! 🙂
Be sure to check out his other birthday parties:
