Do you have 1 hour and $4? Are you excited about the new Beauty and the Beast movie?! Then this is the project for you!! I promise it is super simple to create. You or your daughter will love the end result! I am a HUGE Beauty and the Beast fan! I knew I had to make my daughter something special for the premiere. I’m currently making my daughter a Beauty and the Beast inspired dress. This crown will be the perfect accessory!!
You will need the following materials:
4 sheets of red felt and 1 sheet of yellow felt $.33 a sheet
Dollar store floral wire $1
Dollar store leaves $1
*You will also need hot glue and a glue gun. I didn’t include that in the price.
First you need to cut out your circles. I cut out 4 big red circles and 6 small yellow circles. You can just find an object around the house that is the shape of a circle. I used my “try the grey stuff… it’s delicious!” plate. The diameter of the large red circle was 7 1/2 inches. For the smaller yellow circles the diameter of the circle was 3 1/4 inches.
Next cut out your circles. Don’t worry about them being perfectly cut. You will be cutting off the edges in the next step.
Now cut around your circle in a wavy pattern.
Then starting about half an inch from the edge of your circle, continue with your wavy pattern all the way until you almost reach the very middle of your circle. You will still want to leave a little circle in the middle.
When you are finished cutting your waves, your circle will look like the following.
Then take the end of your wavy circle and start rolling it up.
Just keep rolling until you have your flower.
Next, glue the circle at the bottom of your flower.
You can glue as you roll. I find it quicker not to. So besides gluing the circle to the bottom of the flower, I also glue the loose petals around the outside edge. That seems to hold the flower together very well. haven’t had a problem with the flower coming apart.
Now you have your finished rose. Go ahead and make as many as you would like for your crown. I made 4 large red roses and 6 small yellow roses. You make the yellow roses the exact same way that you make the red roses.
Now you want to measure around your head or your child’s head. You will cut your floral wire to that length. Then form a circle with your wire, and then tape the ends together.
Then your next step is to start arranging your flowers and leaves.
You can follow my placement of the flowers or place them wherever you would like along the floral wire. I first arranged it the way that I wanted, and then I used the hot glue to glue the flowers and leaves to the wire.
Here are some phone pictures of my daughter wearing her crown to the new movie.
Enjoy your flower crown!! And enjoy the new Beauty and the Beast movie!!
