Hi guys! It’s Jenn here from Clean and Scentsible and I’m so excited to be joining in Sarah’s S’mores Saturday series! These s’mores in a jar are a fun way to enjoy that yummy s’mores taste when there’s just not a campfire in sight. If you have a cooler, they can even be taken with you on beach trips or picnics – everything’s better when it’s in a mason jar! 🙂

These are so simple to whip up and will be a big hit with both the adults and the kiddos!
S'mores in a Jar. A fun twist on the summer classic and can be packed up for a picnic!
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix + the ingredients listed on the cake box to make the cake
  • 1 package chocolate mousse {for every 4-5 jars you would like to make}
  • mini marshmallows as desired {approximately 2 cups for every 4-5 jars}
  • graham crackers {crumbled} for topping
  • chocolate chips for topping

DIRECTIONS

  • Prepare the cake batter and bake as directed on the box to make 24 cupcakes. Allow cupcakes to cool completely.
  • Prepare chocolate mousse as directed and chill until ready to use. You will need one package for every 4-5 jars you would like to make.
  • When you are ready to assemble the jars, slice the top off of the cupcakes {cutting the cupcake horizontally in half}. Place the bottom half in the jar and add a layer of chocolate mousse. Each jar will have require one full cupcake.
  • Place mini-marshmallows on a baking sheet and broil them in the oven for a couple of minutes. Keep the oven door open so you can keep a close eye on them to avoid burning. Rotate as needed.
  • Add a layer of marshmallows over the chocolate mousse. Top with the cupcake top and a second layer of the mousse.
    Crumble graham crackers on top along with more roasted marshmallows and some chocolate chips.

If you would like to take these with you on a picnic or camping trip, simply add the cupcake and chocolate mousse layers omitting the middle marshmallow layer {just make sure you still keep it chilled!} Combine mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and crumbled graham crackers in a separate container and top when ready to eat. So delicious! I honestly don’t think I have ever seen my kids eat anything so fast!
