From Rug to Room . . .

But WAIT—before you go check out the room that I was inspired to create around a rug from Wayfair. You may think it’s nutty to plan a room AROUND a rug, but it works! In my dad’s formal living room (reveal coming this fall!) I totally spotted a shockingly cheap area rug at a random furniture store and planned the whole room around it. We both love how it turned out!

I was originally intending to find something to inspire the master bedroom makeover that is sorely overdue in my home, but I am always drawn to color and kid-friendly stuff, so it came as no surprise that once I spotted this Fun Time Solar System Classroom Kids Rug. I mean, COME ON—-it is too fabulous! The former elementary teacher in me was squealing with delight!

This is such a statement piece, that I would stick with solid, bright colors elsewhere except for some accessory pops here and there. Here’s what I would do…..

Bright red bedding with a slight texture variation would be perfect for the bed. Find this bedspread HERE.

Time to add a bunch of brightly colored throw pillows. Yellow, blue or green would work nicely. Multiple color options HERE. Be sure to top with an alien stuffed animal! 🙂

I would finish up with details throughout the room to tie everything together, including these fun wall decals and this rocket lamp. Cutest.
