Christmas Plate Wall

I am obsessed with this Christmas plate wall! She tells us where she got each plate so it's easy to recreate! Alright, friends.  Here’s the deal:  I am very aware that it is less than a week from Christmas and that you are finished decorating and crafting and are now in crazed gift buying and cooking and cleaning for guests who will be arriving soon mode.  HOWEVER, there are a couple of things I want to share with you still because I bought the supplies THIS SEASON, and those supplies will be on CLEARANCE next week—-if they aren’t already!!—-so if you want to create them yourself in the future now is the time to buy!!  So look for a few more original tutorial posts and ideas for me, even though it’s late in the season.  I apologize for not posting them sooner.  It’s been a busy and strange month.  So here we go: my Christmas plate wall!  I am in LOVE.

I got the idea for making a Halloween plate wall from my girl Jen at Tatertots & Jello.  However, I didn’t get around to creating my Halloween plate wall until the day after Halloween.  Yes, you read that correctly.  I really need to work on my organizational skills.  To say the least.

Anyway….my dad doesn’t care a bit about Halloween (we are currently living with him to save some money) but when he saw my Halloween plate wall (which you will be seeing next fall) he requested that I create a Christmas one and offered to pay for it so that he could keep it when we left.  FINE BY ME!!

I recently helped my dad supervise and plan a major kitchen/main floor reno and I totally redecorated the main floor for him.  Let’s call it rent.  Although, as the FOURTH repairman who came to fix our brand new induction cooktop said, “Man, that is a tough way to pay rent!  Not worth it if you ask me!”  Haha.  I laughed and laughed when he said it, but the truth is that we are very happy here.  I can’t wait to share all of the renovations and room makeovers with you!  That is what is primarily on the agenda for January, so stay tuned!

When we were redecorating I hadn’t a clue what to do with the nook of the curving staircase.  My mom had a huge peach flower arrangement there.  Yeah, that had to GO!  I was puzzling and puzzling over it when my friend Megan from Balancing Home suggested a plate wall there.  I miraculously convinced my dad, and now we both love it!  You will see the year-round plate wall in January, but today let’s talk Christmas plates.  I will show you a few pics, then tell you where I got them and end with a few more pics.  Because I just can’t narrow the pics down!

I hope you enjoy, and be sure to come back tomorrow to see how I quickly and simply redid my mom’s front door wreaths using supplies from Target that are THIS season (again…shop them clearance!!), and a full home tour of our Christmas decor on Sunday.  I know it’s late in the season to share, but I just didn’t get around to it before now.  Here we go!

I am obsessed with this Christmas plate wall! She tells us where she got each plate so it's easy to recreate! Here is the plate that was my mom’s: a Waechterbasch Christmas Tree Plate.  It can be found HERE.

Christmas Plate Wall-4 Bottle brush tree from World Market, round glitter candle and lace doilies from JoAnn’s, Merry Christmas tape from Target, gorgeous fresh ranuculus flowers from The Bouqs, frame from Pier 1 Imports.

Wow, looks great! I wish I had some open wall space in my house for something like that! Did you just use Command strips?

(Also, um, so I have a “tidbit tray” in that Waechtersbach pattern, I had no idea that’s what it was… I picked it up at a garage sale for a quarter, and they’re asking $90 for it on ebay!?!)

I had no idea they were valuable either! I hung them with command strips on the top and bottom except for the really heavy ones. I used nails and hooks for those because I had a heavy plate fall off of the wall with command strips and break several others once. :/

Yeah, having them fall and break would definitely be a concern! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

What great use for an awkward little space! I could see this getting changed out for the seasons – or for other special events.

Love this Christmas plate wall! The vibrant colors are something I’m not sure I would ever do but seeing how you staged them I love it and now I want to do the same thing!!! Thanks for the inspiration!

I love your plate wall! I have the same green plate in the top left but smaller and in maroon! I’m using it for my new plate wall in my apartment! You did a great job! Found this post via Link Party Palooza! Have a great New Year!
