Hello! I apologize for the delayed posting of this week’s giveaway. The flu hit the Little Princess and I, so I have been down for the count and falling behind on life. But here I am, rallying so that you can have a chance to win some absolutely one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry.
This week’s giveaway in the Beat the Winter Blues Giveaway Series is not the BIGGEST prize of the series — stay tuned for next week’s prize — EEK! However, it is my favorite prize because it is the one that is the most personal and the closest to my heart. This week I am giving away one of three Crystal Signature Necklaces from my Etsy shop, Bombshell Bling Jewelry. Yes! It’s true!! If you know me personally then you know what a big deal this is.
These necklaces are, well, my signature items. They represent enormous time investment and are my favorite jewelry pieces to design and watch come together bead by bead using my own two hands. I have never, EVER given one away. In fact, I have never done a giveaway for more than a $30 credit, and these necklaces sell for between $75 and $100 dollars. This is a big deal to me, my friends, but I am very excited at the thought of one of you having one of these bad boys hanging around your neck! I wear mine everywhere. From super dressy outfits to jeans and cardigans, from church to work to the theater. Everywhere. And everywhere I go I get strangers stopping me to compliment my necklaces. Literally. It is so fun! I am so excited for you to get to choose one for yourself! Before we take a closer look at your three options I would like to take a minute to introduce you to my business, Bombshell Bling Jewelry, and my personal jewelry making backstory.
About six years ago my husband had just started medical school and we were living in St. Louis. I was teaching at an inner city school and didn’t have many friends yet. I was miserable. To say the least. One of the cute girls with whom I attended church was a great jewelry maker and invited all of the women to come to her home once a month to learn jewelry making. I nervously showed up that first night and BAM! A new passion was discovered. I literally don’t think that I ever would have discovered my love of jewelry making if it had not been for that kind friend offering to teach everyone. It changed my life. Thank you, Jaime.
After that I night I began spending way, way too much money on jewelry supplies. I made it as gifts for family and friends and for myself. But that would have been the end of it if another friend hadn’t stepped in and taken my fate into her own highly ambitious hands. She decided that we should make jewelry together and sell it at a big Christmas sale. I must admit, I was scared out of my mind by that idea, but I had what my sister would label a “major friend crush” of this cute gal, so I bravely moved forward in hopes that I would get to spend more time with her. It worked. She became one of my absolute dearest friends and we sold a load of jewelry together over the next two years. Time moved forward and separated us temporarily, so I ventured out on my own and started my Etsy shop, Bombshell Bling Jewelry. The prospect of selling my jewelry made me push myself to develop new ideas and learn new techniques. Once again, without the intervention of a friend my artistic journey would have stalled out and never become a business that would allow me to share my love of jewelry and creating with those around me. Let’s start with my personal favorites: the Signature Necklaces. They are each one-of-a-kind. My pearl Signature Necklaces are by far my best-selling luxury items. I am not even sure how many of them I have sold. I am currently sold out of them for the first time ever, but I plan to make more soon since they are a *PERFECT* Valentine’s Day gift (send the hubs my way!!), and I always take custom orders as well.

Your necklaces are gorgeous. The one I like is the purple one – I LOVE purple – it could have something to do with my being a member of a Red Hat Society chapter or the poem that says when I am old I shall wear purple.
I am also a beader and a quilter. I came to it later in life (I’m 65), so it is interesting to see how other people got started.

I did some metalsmithing classes, Cindy, and really, really loved it. But it’s just too expensive, so I’ve had to settle for beading for now. I make it work for me though! 🙂

I love your work! I make jewelry too but nothing as detailed as you do! I do however know exactly what youi mean about wishing you’d kept some of the things you’ve made. I feel the exact same way! As for unlimited jewelry spending, first would be a pair of tanzanite earrings and next would be a cushion cut diamond to replace my engagement ring that I lost the first year I was married.

You do make some nice jewelry. I like your signature necklaces the best. I love purples but the multi-metal one goes with more of my clothing, so I’d get that one. You have some cute necklaces, but I’d hesitate to buy any because I have very sensitive skin…not sure if I could wear them. I usually have to stick with gold.
