A few days ago I sat down to write this post and ended up writing An Unexpected Post instead. It was scary but therapeutic to allow myself to just put it all out there. Thank you to those of you have responded in such a kind and generous manner. I am so grateful for your thoughtful words and vicarious support! Truly. Thank you.
At the end of that post I mentioned that I hoped you would come back for my frame reveal, so here I am revealing it to you. First let me tell you a little bit about how this frame came about. As I discuss at the beginning of An Unexpected Post, I am going to a creative blogging conference next week called SNAP! I am nervous, but also very excited. What is SNAP!, you may ask? Well, I think my blogging friend Carolina from Craft Snark and 30 Minute Crafts (a fellow quick crafter…..must be a kindred spirit!) put it the best when she made this image:
Yep, that pretty much explains it. Heehee.
Anyway, in preparation for SNAP! another fellow blogger, Johnnie from Saved by Love Creations organized the Thrifty Stashy SNAP! Swap. She invited SNAP! attendees to register to fill a box full of thrift store finds and supplies and goodies from our personal stashes and send them to a randomly assigned partner.
When I saw who my assigned partner was I squealed. Out loud. Literally. I was super duper pumped to be paired with McKenzie from Girl Loves Glam! She is so cute and funny, and I just LOOOOVE her style! It is like we have the same exact taste, but she can execute my dreams better than I can. Haha. For real, though. Let me share some of my favorite tutorial from her with you:
Embellished Shoes You Can Change Up, Bright Pattern Gallery Wall, DIY Spring Geometric Triangle Backboard, Bow Tie Headband Tutorial, DIY Geometric Triangle Table Runner, Simple St. Patrick’s Day Headband Tutorial (so easy to change up and do all year through!), Gallery Wall with Vinyl Accents
I sent her a box STUFFED with stuff, and one of those things was a sweet little jewelry box in need of some love that I found at a thrift shop. I love the way she upcycled it and gave it new life with this vibrant paint! Check out her post about it to see what it looked like originally, as well as a peek into the box that I sent to her.
Now let’s take a sneak peek at what McKenzie sent to me!
Fabric, paper, cute flowers, iron-on glitter shapes and letters, fun wooden spoons, and the very first roll of Washi tape that I have ever held in my hands!
I thought I’d use the Washi tape, but then I got inspired by the frame, those little flowers, and the strings of tiny, fake pearls. So you know what I did? I got out my glue gun and I placed the flowers on the frame until I liked the arragement and glued them right on there. Then I used a toothpick to dab a tiny bit of hot glue on the pearl strands and glued those onto the frame. I decided taht I liked them best only on one side. And then I realized that I had a perfect picture for that particular frame: a picture of my daughter in her baby blessing outfit being held by her daddy.
I love the way this frame and picture go together. I am usually a bright and flashy gal, but I love the muted colors and antique feel of this frame. Thanks for sending me such fun goodies, McKenzie! I can’t wait to meet you in person at SNAP!
Ah! I love it! I want it back now! Haha. My baby totally had that dress too when she was just tiny! I am excited to meet you NEXT week!
Thanks! It’s a great dress. She has it in red now. And I saw it in beautiful spring colors the other day at Baby GAP. Dangerous….
Very cute but the picture in it is the best!! Can’t wait to go to SNAP and meet everyone!! So excited!
I agree! 🙂
