My favorite holiday tradition was taking the kids in their jammies, all wrapped up in a quilt or blanket, around town to see the Christmas lights. We did this til they no longer wanted to (when they were about 24….kidding!). Now we’re looking forward to having grandchildren, so we can continue the tradition!

My favorite new tradition was to spend Christmas Eve with my in-laws and Christmas Day with my family. Since we moved out of state, though, the whole thing has been thrown out the window. Now I’m just happy if I get to go “home” for Christmas!

My mother started the tradition of putting a small gift on the Christmas tree for everyone in the family to be opened after Christmas tea in the evening. It is a little something for the children especially to look forward to after having opened all their presents in the morning. I have continued and established this tradition in my family – my daughters both follow the tradition and our grandchildren love it..

One of my favorite traditions is cookie baking. My children (and hubby 😉 ) each choose a favorite cookie and then we plan a time that I can bake those special cookies with the person who chose them. It’s some one-on-one time, making memories, and, of course, you get delicious cookies when you’re done!

The lights, music, people, family, gratefulness for our Lord Jesus Christ and giving things to others are some of my favorite things at Christmas time. But most of all I love spending time with my grandkids. Children at Christmas is something special.
