I wanted to do some Valentines crafting this year, but I wanted something simple that would blend in with the rest of my decor. I currently love all things water colored, but I am no painter. In fact, it has probably been since elementary school that I have even done any sort of watercolor painting. I thought I would play around with some paint one afternoon. I’m pretty pleased with the end result. Let me share with you how I created my watercolor pillows.
What you will need:
-acrylic paint
-water
-q tip
-white pillow case
-stencil
First, I took some of my craft paints, and I watered them down. I don’t have exact measurements. I just experimented until I had the consistency that I wanted.
I dipped my q-tip into my paint/water mixture. The reason I used a q-tip versus a paint brush is because when I tried to use a paint brush I couldn’t get enough paint to stick to it. Maybe if you had a more quality paint brush on hand it would work. I was just using one of my kids plastic one. The q-tip worked great!
Then I just played around with the paints within the stencil. I designed the stencil on my Cricut. The cursive words are with the Thristy font. The straight words are with the Eras font. You can create your own stencil or just free hand, whatever you prefer.
After it had dried, I added a little non-watered down paint to give the words a little more definition or to fill in areas that were too watered down and hard to see. I like how it gives it a little more dimension.
Give it a try!
