This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Gro-ables. All opinions are 100% mine.
Last month I shared the post “Gardening….Lazy Girl Style” with you, and today I am here to follow up on the progress of my plants. First of all, I decided that the old garden under the tree was too far gone. Tree roots, hard-as-a-rock soil, etc. Not for me. So I stuck my Miracle Gro Gro-ables seed pods into pots instead. I was nervous that I planted them too early in the season, and, well…..I was right. My dad acted like I was an idiot for planting that early in Colorado, and he was right. I went out of town and a spring snowstorm hit my precious pots. Waaaaahhhhh!!! I haven’t given up hope entirely on my basil and lettuce, but something miraculous happened: my dill started to grow! That dill is a hearty little bugger! Only a couple of green shoots have appeared so far, but that’s enough for me. My son is ecstatic to see growth and still carefully waters all three pots regularly. Here is our hearty little dill plant. He rocks.
I am looking forward to my dill plant getting large enough to harvest. We bought a dill plant a couple of years back and that thing was a never-failing producer. It think it’s a tough and plentiful herb in general. We love to make a dill butter sauce that we put on chicken and fish. Maybe I will share it with you once I have enough dill to work with from my little plant. I also spotted these recipes on other blogs that I am excited to make once my dill is blooming heartily.
Gluten Free Goat Cheese Dill Mini Biscuits from Boulder Locavore
Grilled Carrots with Lemon & Dill from TheKitchn
Chicken & Dill Souvlaki from Real Simple
Yummmmmmmm……am I right?? What would YOU make with fresh dill?
If you are thinking of growing your own herb garden but aren’t sure where to start then check out the site Sprout It! Their “inspiration gardens” let you know just what you will need if your end goal is salsa, salads, home spa stuff, or more! Very cool.
If you missed my first post and haven’t heard about how simple it is to use Gro-Ables seed pods to start your garden, then check out this video. When I shared it on Pinterest from my first post someone immediately commented “My favorite gardening trick ever!” Awesome. Happy gardening!
