My son is obsessed with cozy blankets and he’s obsessed with Lightning McQueen, so I decided that I should combine those two obsessions and make him a simple, no-sew blanket as a Christmas gift. I just decided this today, and I whipped it out in a flash during nap time. This would be a perfect gift for you to make for anyone on your gift list. Kids, adults, girlfriends, siblings, ANYONE! It would a great wedding gift as well! Fleece throws for everyone! HOORAY! Ok, calming down now… 😉
I used a yard of this fabulously tacky Lightning McQueen fleece that I spotted at JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores, but I’m sure you could find something much classier. I know that JoAnns has a lot of sales going on right now, including a sale on their No-Sew Fleece Blanket kits, so head on over and grab one while you can!
Now, how do you go about making this blanket? It’s a piece of cake!
First you trim the edges of the fleece if you need to.
Next you cut a square off of each corner of your blanket. I think that mine were about six inches by six inches.
Now you cut strips. Mine were about a inch and a half wide.
Time to tie your strips off. While tying they can get a bit tight, so you may have to tug them apart a bit. Don’t worry, the fleece can handle it.
That’s it! You’re done! So go wrap it up or snuggle up in your brand new fleece throws! Happy Holidays!
