If you don’t know what a progressive dinner is, then let me tell you. Traditionally a progressive dinner is done between friends or neighbors, and each person is in charge of a course of dinner. You may start at one home for drinks and appetizers, and then you will walk to another home for soup and salad and so on and so forth. It’s a yummy house hop! What we are bringing you here is a yummy BLOG hop! So welcome to our blog “homes.” We hope you enjoy our favorite summer dinner party recipes! Don’t they look AH-MAZ-ING?!
I am excited to share with you today our family’s go-to company dinner recipe Sweet Chicken Marinade.
It is super easy and never misses. Yum, yum, YUM!!! My mama used this recipe for years and years, and I continue to do so as well. I hope that you love it as much as I do! It comes together so quickly and it never disappoints!

- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 6 Tablespoons olive oil
- 4 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 3 medium garlic cloves
- 3 Tablespoons spicy brown mustard
- 4 Tablespoons lemon juice
- 1½ teaspoon salt
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl and add raw chicken. This makes enough marinade for at least 10 pieces of chicken. Marinate overnight if possible. Grill to perfection.
- (The raw chicken can also be placed in a ziploc bag with the marinade and frozen as a freezer meal!)

I’ve got a freezer full of chicken so this is going on the menu next week, looks awesome!
Absolutely loved this marinade. Boyfriend said it was the best chicken dinner I have made! Making it a second time right now 🙂
Yay!!!!
I really want to try this recipe, but I’m not sure what grainy mustard is? Is it ground mustard or the mustard that has some whole mustard seeds in it? Thanks! ,
It just looks like it has brown flecks in it. Very scientific description. 😉 I use Gulden’s spicy brown mustard.
