Hello there! It’s Carisa (from Messes to Memories). It’s been a while but I’m back with an amazing recipe that doubles as a fun activity for kids. This made for a fun morning with the kids that was extremely memorable. I’m so glad that I took a morning off to play with my kids and make Layered Fruit Popsicles.
Okay! If you are looking for a fun activity then pull out the blender. If I get ready to pull out the blender my kids go crazy. They love smoothies. So we decided to take smoothies to the next level and make popsicles.
Not just any popsicles… Layered Fruit Popsicles!
Grab your frozen fruit, a cup of yogurt, some juice or milk and a blender!
We had 5 different layers. For each layer we had a different fruit base. We chose strawberries, peaches, bananas, pineapple and spinach, and berries for our 5 bases. We started with about 1/2 cup fruit and 1/2 cup milk or juice. Then we added a couple tablespoons of yogurt, extra juice or milk to help it blend smooth!
The kids loved adding the different fruits in and pressing the smoothie button on the blender.
After we blended one fruit mixture until it was smooth, we placed it in a cup and put it in the freezer while we blended the rest so that it wouldn’t get too runny.
We continued blending until we had 5 different mixtures each was very delicious. The kids tested each flavor to make sure. They really loved this bonding experience.
Once they were all done we pulled all the cold smoothies out of the freezer and put a spoonful of red in the bottom of each popsicle mold. Then a spoonful of orange, yellow, green and purple until the molds were full.
I placed them in the freezer for about 10 minutes to let them set up a bit and then put the popsicle stick in. I wanted it to set up a bit first so that it wouldn’t mix the layers up.
Let them freeze up really well 3-4 hours or overnight just to make sure they don’t fall apart when you remove them from the mold.
There is no doubt in my mind that you will enjoy this sweet and delicious treat!
If you are looking for more fun treats for kids stop on by! We have so much fun in the kitchen over here!
