I am so excited to share with you this recipe for marshmallow fudge today for Sleighbell Saturdays. This adaptation of my Granny’s marshmallow fudge recipe is dark, decadent, and sure to delight your friends and family all holiday season – and beyond!
Don’t you just love a rich, creamy fudge? I do! My granny always made fudge at Christmas, and I enjoyed it, but it was always a little too sweet, even for me and my crazy sweet tooth. This year I made a batch and then it occurred to me to switch up the milk chocolate chips for DARK chocolate chips. JACKPOT.
Switching the chocolate was exactly what I needed to do to perfect this recipe and make the most decadent fudge that I have ever tasted. I must say, it DOES matter what kind of chocolate chips you use! The more high quality the chocolate the more high quality your fudge will turn out. You *CAN* taste a difference! Personally, I am totally devoted to Chocolove Dark Chocolate Chips. I can only find them at Whole Foods, but they are worth the hassle AND the price! Seriously. YUM!
I was surprised by how EASY this recipe was to make. It just takes some patience with CONSTANT stirring, but, overall, it is quick, simple, and hard to mess up. Can’t beat that! 🙂
Here is the recipe for my granny’s marshmallow fudge:
Rating
- 2 cups sugar
- 11 large marshmallows
- ¾ can evaporated milk
- 1 package dark chocolate chips
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 cup chopped nuts, OPTIONAL
- Prep a square pan by lining it with aluminum foil.
- Combine sugar, marshmallows, and evaporated milk in a medium saucepan.
- Bring this combination of ingredients to a slow boil over medium high heat and stir CONSTANTLY for exactly 6 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate chips, butter, and (if desired) nuts.
- Pour the mixture into the foil lined pan. Cool in the refrigerator.
- Cut and enjoy.
I hope that you enjoy this marshmallow fudge recipe as much as we do! Happy holidays!

I could seriously eat fudge every day! Why do we tend to limit it to the holidays? I guess I need to start making it myself. Thanks for sharing and linking up with me On the Edge.
