(Please excuse my feet. They aren’t exactly model-worthy, but the only other options that I had as models were baby feet and hairy man feet. Yikes.)
Growing up in Colorado I always had a problem on Halloween. Every. Single. Year. Each year I was so excited to go trick-or-treating so that I could show off my Halloween costume! And, inevitably, a cold front would rush in during the week of Halloween. It isn’t nearly as fun to go trick-or-treating with a puffy ski coat over your costume, believe me.
But, miracle of miracles, this year there will be NO coat over my costume because we will be in DISNEYLAND! I am beside myself with excitement. To say the least.
So this craft is for those of you who will also be lucky enough to spend Halloween in a state where you don’t have to wear a ski coat over your costume, although this project really is a piece of cake and could easily be used to make flip flops for any other occasion as well!
So let’s get started!
1. Gather up your supplies. You will need a glue gun and glue sticks, Mod Podge, some scrap fabric, and a pair of flip flops. I grabbed some at Old Navy for about $2.50. Gotta love end-of-summer sales!
2. Start by cutting some thin strips of fabric. Use your glue gun to put a dot of hot glue onto your flip flops and press on the fabric.
3. Now wrap the fabric, dotting hot glue every once in a while on the inside of the flip flop. (On the outside it could bleed through and leave dark spots showing on your cute finished product.) As you can see in the picture below, I had to do some folding and experimenting when I got to the point of the flip flops.
4. Once your flip flops are completely wrapped then you simply slather Mod Podge all over them. That stuff is amazing! Now simply leave them to dry.
