Hello, Dr. Seuss fans! I am excited to once again be participating in a Craft Lightning Week with Caroline of 30 Minute Crafts and Angie of The Country Chic Cottage. This time around the theme is Dr. Seuss, which couldn’t be more perfect for me since I am Seuss-loving former elementary school teacher, and I am just putting the finishing touches on my son’s brand new Dr. Seuss bedroom. It has been a load of work, but I am THRILLED with the outcome, largely because HE is thrilled with the outcome! As for today, you will get a sneak peek at one side of the room as I show you how I made mini bulletin boards for the room in about five minutes flat! No kidding!
Let’s get started!
For these simple bulletin boards all you need are round cork trivets (mine are from Ikea, clearly) and a bit of fabric. I only used about a fourth of a fat quarter of fabric for each bulletin board.
Lay the cork trivet on top of the fabric, as shown above, and cut a circle around the fabric. It does not need to be perfect, but it does need to allow room to fold the fabric onto the cork board for glueing.
Put a line of hot glue along the side of the trivet and fold the fabric up onto the back of the trivet, as shown in the pictures.
Repeat until the fabric is secured all the way around.
That’s it, people. Truly. Now you just have to hang them and you have the cutest little bulletin boards! I hung mine on my son’s wall using 3M Strips. Those things are amazing. As you can see, there are three of them next to a large bulletin board, which I found in my dad’s crawl space and spray painted green.
What do you think? I love that these could be adapted for ANY room by using fabrics that match the room decor. I have a few leftover trivets, so I suspect some of these will be popping up in my bedroom as well.
And now for the room sneak peek. You only get to see one side of the room, but you can get a sneak peek of several projects that I will be sharing tutorials for, as well as the wild striped wall which I just LOVE! My husband and dad thought I was nutty when I said I was going to do bright multicolored stripes, but once it was done even they became believers. What do you think?
Before I sign off I have a serious question for you, and I need feedback, please. I had planned on sharing with you the big reveal of my dad’s main floor before the kids’ rooms. That includes the reno and redecorating of the kitchen, living room, office, dining room, family room, laundry room, and half bath. However, I’m in a bit of Seuss-y mood now. Would you like too see the Dr. Seuss room and tutorials first or the main floor first? Give me some direction, pretty please!
Don’t forget to pop over the 30 Minute Crafts or The Country Chic Cottage for more amazing Dr. Seuss ideas, all of which take 15 minutes or less to make! Fun fun!

Well, you’re the only vote so far, so it looks like you will win! 😉 Thanks!

I’d like to see the rest of the Dr Seuss room first. I’m getting ready for Read across America at my children’s school, so I’m into Dr Seuss right now too.

I agree. Dr Seuss room first.

I want to see the rest of this room! It looks fantastic!!!! The Stripe Wall is perfect! I love the seat covers ! I have Seuss fabric laying around I didn’t know what to make with it, but that is perfect, as well as the pin boards. I love the flag bunting out of book pages. I made a super long one last year for our school carnival but I should cut it and hang part in our playroom too. I’ve got those cut out signs but always thought I should donate them to a teacher for a classroom, but they look darling in the bedroom. Thanks for helping me think outside of the box (or classroom) and see how you can incorporate different decor into one playful room. I’d love to feature this room on obSEUSSed sometime, now, or when you get the final pics, email me.

Thanks, Victoria! The tutorial for those stool covers is in the wings, as well as about a million other tutorials. I will send you a link when I do the full room reveal. Just have to finish one last thing. 🙂
