This Disney Birthday Party celebrates SIX different sides of Disney: Wreck It Ralph, Star Wars, Avengers, Cars, Peter Pan, and, of course, Mickey Mouse! A true Disney Adventure!

* I was ecstatic to be chosen to host a #DisneySide @Home Celebration party, and I received promotional and party items in a celebration kit from Disney Parks and MomSelect in order to kick start my party.  All ideas, opinions, and Disney obsession are 100% my own.  Use the Disney Side Celebrations website to get ideas to host your own Disney Side party.

Today is the day!  The day that I am finally going to show you everything that I did for my boy’s Disney birthday party!  When I was chosen to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration I was ecstatic!  When I received my darling purple American Tourister suitcase full of goodies there were some super cute Mickey Mouse plates, napkins, and cupcake wrappers included in it, but I couldn’t convince him to have a straight-up Mickey Mouse party.  He wanted a Cars party…..or a Peter Pan party…..or a Star Wars party…..or an Avengers party……or a Wreck-It-Ralph party!  Every day a new party was requested.  I started musing on my own Disney memories, and I kept thinking about how much I loved Epcot with all of the different “countries” to visit in one spot.  And then an idea clicked in my mind and my son’s Disney Adventure Birthday Party was born.

At his birthday party, we showed ALL of my son’s “Disney Sides.”  He chose his six favorite Disney movies/characters, and we planned activities and decorations around those six themes.  Each kid wore an outfit to represent their own Disney Side, and upon their arrival, they each received a “Passport.”  They carried their passport with them throughout the party and got new “stamps” (stickers) at each “world” to represent the Disney “countries” through which they had traveled.  The kids were ENTHRALLED by this idea!  They totally loved it!  However, I must say that in retrospect I would have put all of the stickers in ahead of time and just told them to look and see what adventure was coming next.  It took more time to do the stickers than I had anticipated.  Still so fun, though!!  Here’s a closer look.

If you would like to recreate these passports for your own kiddos you just need $1 photo albums from Walmart, some colorful paper and stickers, and these files:  Passport Cover and Passport Insert.  I got my stickers at Dollar Tree, Walmart, Party City, and Amazon.  Wreck It Ralph was the trickiest to find.  Hence Amazon.

Can I show you some more pictures of what greeted the kids as they arrived?  I removed the pretty decor from our front table and decorated it with star confetti, the passports (with the names already written into each one), my new suitcase, my daughter’s gigantic Minnie Mouse, a few Disney toys, some Mouse Ears in a basket (which I forgot to have them wear in the pictures), and some framed pictures.  If you are interested in the larger version of the passport cover to frame it can be found HERE, and the tutorial for how I created the Disney Ticket Stub Frame is HERE.

Disney Birthday Party Wreck It Ralph

The first stop on our Disney Adventure was the land of Wreck It Ralph.  For our Wreck It Ralph world we used an idea I got from the cute blog Busy Mom’s Helper and made candy and cookie race cars, with Twinkies as the base.  The kids LOVED this idea, and of course they snuck plenty of candy when the grown ups weren’t looking.

Disney Birthday Party Avengers

On to Avengers world!  (Disney owns Marvel, after all, so it counts!)  In the Avengers portion of the party each kid used Hulk gloves to “SMASH!!!!” a city of buildings.  We made the buildings by wrapping boxes in white butcher paper and then using a dot stamper to make “windows” on the boxes.  I got this idea from my friend Ann last year at her son’s birthday party and knew it was the perfect activity.  My son told me afterward that this was his favorite part of the party.

My dad looks pretty impressed with Buzz Lightyear’s efforts.  Heehee.

Disney Birthday Party Cars

Now that everyone was riled up it was a good time to take the energy level down a notch, so we headed over to “Mater’s Tall Tales Drive-In.”

I made the “cars” with large produce boxes from Costco.  They were painted with a roller and leftover paint from my daughter’s room redo.  I cut out white circles and used hot glue to stick them on black paper plates, which I then hot glued onto the boxes as “wheels.”  I also glued yellow circles onto the boxes as “headlights.”  The kids were so excited to sit in their box cars!

Little Princess snuck into the action on this one.  I knew that she would and made an extra car for her in advance.  🙂

While they watched a couple of Mater’s Tall Tales the kids munched on Mickey Mouse Popcorn, the recipe for which I shared early in the week.  Yum.

After the land of Cars it was time for something special: Captain Hook’s Pirate Training, with a special guest: Captain Hook himself!

Disney Birthday Party Peter Pan

I love this Disney Adventure birthday party! Great ideas for Wreck it Ralph, Cars, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, The Avengers, Peter Pan, and Star Wars!

My good natured husband donned his Captain Hook costume and recruited the wee lads to be part of his scurvy crew.  He went all out, too.  A couple of the kids had to be reassured that it was really just the birthday boy’s daddy.  Haha.  Each new pirate got a temporary tattoo (including little sis!) and an eye patch, and then they all recovered the “treasure” (chocolate coins and cheap candy) from the crocodile pinata.  It was a blast….until my son slammed a dent into the wall of my dad’s formal living room.  Dang it.

My boys.  Love them!  (I shared a tutorial for how I made this Mickey Mouse T-Shirt just yesterday.)

Disney Birthday Party Mickey Mouse Food Parade

Once Captain Hook was done with his crew the crew took a break to enter the land of Mickey Mouse….FOOD.

Can we chat about the food table for a second?  I made the Mouse Ear Garland with my Cricut (tutorial at the bottom of THIS post), and I found the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse figures at Dollar Tree.  The large star platters are Wilton brand, and the plates and napkins were in my Disney @Home Celebrations kit, but I also spotted them later at Party City.  We served cantaloupe cut like Mouse Ears using a cookie cutter, mini bagel dogs (Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity DOG!), juice boxes, and Mickey Mouse cupcakes.

Original and Mini Oreos make the cutest, but SIMPLEST Mickey Mouse cupcakes! Cute, cute!

The cupcakes are self explanatory, but super cute.  Cake decorating is not my forte, so we opted for something simple this year.  Regular cupcakes topped with an oreo cookie and two mini oreo cookies….viola!  Mickey Mouse cupcakes.  Love it.

MICKEY MOUSE JUICE BOXES!!!! CUTEST!!!!! MICKEY MOUSE JUICE BOXES!!!! CUTEST!!!!!

The Mickey Mouse juice boxes ended up being one of my favorite things at the party.  I had the idea because of the Viking juice boxes I made for last year’s How to Train Your Dragon Party.  Simply pull off the straw gently and save it.  Tape black construction paper around the top of the juice box and red construction paper around the bottom of the juice box.  Cut round “ears” and tape them to the back of the juice box.  Add “buttons” with yellow puffy paint.  Cute, right?

Cute birthday boy.

Disney Birthday Party Star Wars

Prior to their departure, each guest stopped at the last adventure land of the day: Star Wars.  Yes, Disney owns Star Wars now too!  They pretty much own everything at this point.  In Star Wars land they each received a pool noodle and duct tape light saber and went to town battling it out.  It was a pretty rowdy party favor to send home, but they were jazzed about it!

Such a fun, exhausting day!  But this little guy sure was happy, and that’s what matters!  How would you show YOUR Disney Side?!
