Welcome, friends from Sweet C’s Designs! I am glad to have you over here today at my other website, Craft Quickies. I hope you’ll stop and take a peek at all of the quick crafts we profile here!
Halloween is fast approaching, and it isn’t slowing down just because I have been really busy lately. I usually go crazy for Halloween, but this year, I just don’t know how much time I will be able to put into all of the festivities- my two kiddos are a handful right now!
I was recently given a bunch of awesome supplies to check out from fashionartprojects.com and found a really cool tool inside the package they sent me: Zip Screens.
Zip Screens are pre-made silk screens in a variety of fun designs. One of the designs they included in my package was a cool looking skull, perfect for Halloween.
I grabbed an extra canvas tote I had laying around, a few strings of bakers twine, and the screen and paint, and set to making this fun, modern tote for Halloween!
First, I made a quick grid using bakers twine as a guide. I wasn’t super concerned with my skulls being perfectly lined up- but you could use painters tape and a ruler if you’d like your tote to be exact.
I then placed down the skull screen, face up.
I opened up the black pain package and cut the tip off the paint bag, according to directions. Since the paint comes attatched to a card, you don’t need a spatula or any extra silk screen tools- very cool!
I just spread the paint along the screen by gently squeezing more paint out, and then worked it around with the card.
I then repeated the process for each skull (each one took about 30 seconds).
When I was done, I gently washed the paint off the screen with warm water, and set it to dry for future use.
The paint dries VERY quickly- in under 30 minutes.
How easy is that??
I’m excited to try out more of the Zip Screens- it really is an awesome idea. I am hoping for some more designs soon! (maybe some pretty flowers, interesting fonts, sports images and more images on their own like this skull that you can add to other designs??)
You can find Zip Screens online and at WalMart!
