Make a lucky charm hair bow for St. Patrick’s Day using this simple tutorial from Bombshell Bling. Perfect for any adorable little leprechaun in your life!
St. Patrick’s Day is coming! I am excited. I have never done much with this holiday, but this year I have some fun ideas and a little boy who loves holidays as much as I do with whom I can celebrate. So bring on the green glitter, and let’s start with this Lucky Charm Hair Bow!
My in-laws came to visit last month and my awesomely generous MIL bought my little girl a Valentine’s Day outfit and both of the kids St. Patrick’s Day t-shirts. Well, we all know that I don’t believe in my little princess having a holiday shirt without an appropriately festive bow to coordinate with it! And thus the Lucky Charm Hair Bow was born.
This lucky charm hair bow came together very quickly with just a few supplies and some hot glue. Read on to find out how you can make one for yourself or your little lady. After all it is cute and festive, and it will keep you from getting pinched!
Gather the following supplies:
* two varieties of ribbon (I got the striped ribbon in the $1 bin outside of Michael’s and I had the ultra-thin green ribbon from a past project. Ribbon like that is everywhere, so you should be able to find it rather easily.)
* glittery foam clovers (I got mine at JoAnn Fabrics. I think you could find them at any craft store or in the holiday area of most stores.)
* hot glue gun and glue
* alligator clip and/or fold over elastic
* a bit of green felt
Begin by gluing your ribbon in a flowered shape. I started with a cross (shown above) by folding and gluing.
Next I cut short strips of ribbon and glued them to fill out the other “petals” of the flower.
Next I looped and glued the thin ribbon into a flower shape on top of the thick ribbon. It doesn’t have to look perfect in the middle because the glue will be hidden by the clovers.
Hot glue a foam clover on top of the ribbon flowers. Be generous with the glue.
Now carefully glue a smaller clover on top of the larger clover. Once again, be generous with the glue, but not too generous, as you don’t want the glue to creep out from the corners and show.
You are done with the artistry of your bow. Seriously. It was that easy!
I like to build a felt “house” for my alligator clips and fold over elastic, so that is what we will do next. Cut a small section of green felt and glue it generously to the back of your creation.
Now glue your alligator clip or fold over elastic directly to the felt.
“Trap” the clip or elastic by gluing a small strip of felt across the clip or elastic.
I decided to put mine on a clip and then just clip it to the elastic so that next year on St. Patrick’s Day when my daughter finally has hair she will still be able to wear it.
Ta-da! All done! And now we will see it in action.
She is a little bit sick of my photo shoots. Look, Little Missy, if you want beautiful accessories then you have to suffer through photo shoots. Beauty is pain, my dear. Beauty is pain!
There is no wrong that her pacifier can’t right.
That’s better. Hi, Sweet Girl!
I want to eat her. Is that so wrong??
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, friends!
If you love this lucky charm hair bow then you will love these ideas as well!

Super cute barrette. It’s hard to find cute St. Patrick’s Day accessories, esp. for little girls. I tell my 6 year old how beauty is a pain too, and to get used to it now! Visiting from Ladies Collective Linkup.

Your daughter is beautiful and looks so cute with the St. Patrick’s Day bow! I can understand her frustration at photo shoots. My grandchildren are so used to it, they see the camera and say “cheese”. Thank you for sharing your pretty bow at Party in Your PJ’s!

It is only wrong to want to eat her if you have whipped cream and a spoon in hand, lol. Seriously, LOVE the bow and thanks for the tutorial.

P.S. They grow W-A-Y too fast and if I could, my daughter would still be two instead of twenty two. Enjoy the tears and the smiles equally.
