I am excited to be participating in this week’s Teacher Appreciation Craft-Lightening with 30 Minute Crafts and The Country Chic Cottage. I know this birthday bookmarks post doesn’t seem even slightly like a teacher appreciation craft. Please bear with me while I explain.
I used to be a third grade teacher. I was mulling over what to make for this, but I felt torn, because I knew that as a teacher I got too many knick-knacky things for which I couldn’t find shelf space. In fact, last year during Pinterest’s high season of crayon frames and wreaths (which, as a teacher and bright color lover I must admit, I LOVE, but how many of those do you think one teacher needs?) I decided to write a post on what teachers REALLY want to receive as gifts. I made a list of five things and then I called my sisters, who are also both teachers, and they each made the EXACT SAME LISTS without consulting me. Curious? (Psssstttt . . . GIFT CARDS are the bomb!!) Here is the post: The 5 Teacher Gifts That Your Child’s Teacher Really Wants to Receive.
I considered ignoring my list and making a craft anyway because, DUH!!, I love crafts. But I decided instead to go with something that would fit under #4 on my list: Something really great for the classroom . . . or HELP!
So that is why today I am sharing with you a free printable for happy birthday bookmarks. I was trying to think of something fun that you could prep for the teacher. Print, cut, and put them in an envelope for teacher to use for kids on their birthdays! She (or he) can fill in the blanks to give the kids something fun, from a treat to class bucks or computer time! Whatever works in that classroom.
Wanna be a SUPER mom? Grab a class set of books to accompany the happy birthday bookmarks! The book orders that teachers send home usually have a 95 cent book on the cover of the book order. Just a thought. With or without books, it is fun to spoil kids on their birthdays, and this will help teacher to do so!
I made these bookmarks vague enough that anyone could use them for a special kiddo: parents, Sunday School teachers, coaches, piano teachers, neighbors, etc!
If you want to go the extra mile and add a bit of craftiness to your teacher birthday-simplifying gift then check out the giant printable Happy Birthday Button Printable that I shared on Monday. (Make at least a few so if kids absentmindedly head home wearing them it isn’t the end of the world.)
And here’s another fun birthday-centric teacher idea that you could make from my friend Danielle over at Busy Mom’s Helper: a cute puzzle-themed birthday chart for the classroom! See the tutorial HERE.
If you are looking for true blue Teacher Appreciation CRAFTS then be sure to head over to The Country Chic Cottage or 30 Minute Crafts to check out all of the Teacher Appreciate Lightening Crafts that will be shared this week!
