I have been crazed trying to fit all of my Halloween ideas into the end of this month. It’s just one my favorite times of the year! So each day this week I will be throwing up one or two posts with activities, decorations, and treats that you can throw together in a hurry to squeeze in some Halloween fun at your house even if you haven’t gotten around to doing any preparations yet. First up is an elegant yet simple pumpkin centerpiece.
I have seen many ideas and pictures combining pumpkins and ribbons on Pinterest and the internet, so I decided to create my own elegant pumpkin and ribbon centerpiece for our living room. We are living with my father, who is a widower, while my husband completes his training, so I have a lot more rooms to fill up with decorations than I did in our little apartment. The formal living room is still decorated in my mom’s killer early 1990s peach decor. Yikes. The pumpkins are trying to class the place up. Not sure it’s working . . .
Anyway, classy or not, here is how you can make a centerpiece of your own: Buy a bag of mini pumpkins at the grocery store and a couple of different rolls of ribbon at a craft store. Heat up a glue gun, preferably a low heat one so you don’t burn your fingers. Measure out the length of ribbon that you want to use to wrap around the width of the pumpkin and end in either a knot or a bow. Use three dots of hot glue per pumpkin, one dot on the back and one dot on each side. Dot the glue on as you wrap the ribbon around your pumpkins. Tie your knots or bows and place them into a glass bowl.
Voila! If that wasn’t easy then I don’t know what is! Happy decorating!
