I am what you might call a “holiday mom.” I love holidays. I think any little holiday is a great excuse to have a day that’s a bit more special for my family. I am all about family traditions and family togetherness. In the past, we have always had the Easter Bunny visit our home, along with our family and religious celebrations on Easter, but I haven’t done anything with Easter baskets other than hand my boy one to fill with candy. This year when I was invited to create a customized Easter basket for each of my children using items from my local King Soopers (a Kroger family grocery store) I jumped at the chance. Too fun!
Since I have always been a Colorado girl, I’ve been going to King Soopers since I was young enough to be getting the free kids’ cookies and riding the penny horse myself. It’s a great store: well stocked, clean, and great produce. All important. It has also always been a place where I have successfully find all sorts of random goodies, so I knew filling an Easter basket would be no problem. In fact, I have a pair of grown up jellies flats that I spotted at King Soopers for $10 a few years back that I still get asked about every time I wear them. So random. I love it!
Let’s take a look at what I put together for my kiddos. I walked in to my local King Soopers and ten minutes later I walked out with two fabulous baskets ready to go. They are going to be PUMPED!
Let’s take a gander at my son’s basket. I grabbed the traditional baskets, Easter grass, chocolate bunny, and Starburst Jellybeans, and then I spotted those Spiderman eggs. Ummm….KILLER. So so perfect for a little boy! I also found him a Scooby Doo DVD in the small movie area of the store, window markers in the art and office supply aisle, a copy of Go, Dog. Go! in the book aisle, and some Peeps to go with this DARLING Peeps car that I spotted in the holiday section. I love it!
He is going to be sooo excited on Easter morning!
For my daughter I grabbed the same basic Easter supplies, but then I mixed it up a bit for her. I found a Dora Easter Special DVD for her and the book Easter Bugs. I LOVE those “Bugs” books. They are the cutest popup books ever. In the holiday aisle I also spotted a darling Minnie Mouse spring doll that she can dress up. She has another one like it, so I know she is going to love this springy version. That girl LIVES for Minnie Mouse!
What do you think? Does your family have an Easter basket giving tradition?

I love picking out fun stuff for my girls (20 & 16). I already bought them their traditional milk chocolate solid bunny, jelly beans, cadbury eggs and fingernail polish. When they were little, they would get books, movies, toys, etc. This year my oldest daughter wants hair accessories and the youngest wants a book. Love your baskets!

We fill our baskets with candy and another basket each with a few books.
